The innocent

The richest, the greedy, the corrupt

Say yes to more bombs and more weapons

Getting a rise from the prospect of what they might do

They gather more of the most vulnerable youth

And place guns in their hands

Reminding them that precision bombs kill only the guilty

Do your duty, the young are told, for God and country

While the masses parrot the words of the war lords who must pay a dividend

And so more of what counts is done

As the flag flies

Unless it’s draped over the coffin of one of the most vulnerable

For it is not the guilty who die

But the innocent
