Oh, happy day: U.S. behind in identifying mutant virus

The Associated Press has the details.

Despite its world-class medical system and its vaunted Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the U.S. fell behind in the race to detect dangerous coronavirus mutations. And it’s only now beginning to catch up.

That’s one hell of an indictment on American exceptionalism. But, hey, let’s keep fighting culture wars and see where that gets us.
