After a year like we had, it might be foolish to predict what might happen over the next 12 months.

Nevertheless, here we go:

  1. The Supreme Court will retain most of the Affordable Care Act, but kill the individual mandate
  2. The Dow Jones Industrial Average will end the year around 31,500 (it begins it around 30,000)
  3. At least 10 U.S. colleges or universities will announce plans to close from a combination of financial losses because of coronavirus and declining enrollments because of demographic changes
  4. The Biden administration will propose cancelling billions of dollars of student debt, and the Republicans will successfully block such plans. That’s because….
  5. Republicans will have a 51-49 majority in the Senate following the two elections in Georgia
  6. Google will bend to political reality and cut a deal with the government preventing the tech giant from being carved up
  7. U.S. diplomatic relations with China will worsen, but will improve with Iran
  8. At least one North American major sports league will be forced to significantly delay their season because coronavirus remains a dangerous and stubborn foe
  9. The delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympics will take place, but the Japanese government will allow few fans into the events
  10. Enough Americans will take the coronavirus vaccine in the first six months of the year allowing for a slow but steady return to normal in the back half of the year
