Social media nabobs

I’m convinced some people are so egotistical (or simply vacuous) that they write ridiculous social media posts simply to get attention.

Are they so desperate for likes/dislikes or positive/negative replies that they’d intentionally make a post that defies common sense?

And no I’m not referring to the president.

I read two posts today from a man well known in Pittsburgh who wondered why people continue to wear masks, which he claims don’t work in the fight against coronavirus. In another tweet, he seemed to mock people who were walking alone and nevertheless masked.

Sadly, because of name recognition, this blowhard will generate plenty of responses, none of which I care to read. What’s worse is that he’ll be seen as some kind of voice of reason. I wouldn’t seek his counsel on anything, unless I was interested in publicly embarrassing myself.
