The following comes from the Chronicle of Higher Education’s live blog:

Purdue University will give faculty and staff members and graduate-student employees $750 bonuses each for their “patience, forbearance, extra effort, and sometimes true sacrifices that have gone into” the institution’s uninterrupted fall semester, the president, Mitch Daniels, announced last week. In his message, Daniels also said that people on campus had “emphatically refuted the cynical predictions that their behavior would overwhelm any protective actions the university attempted.” The Lafayette Journal & Courier reports that campus testing has logged more than 3,000 cases of Covid-19, but that case spikes during the semester were not severe enough to cause the university to depart from its in-person fall plan.

Bravo.
