Erie, PA., superintendent: Don’t think sports is wise this fall

The city of Erie is one of the largest in Pennsylvania. And the superintendent there is trying to tamp down expectations about fall sports. has the details.

“Our first competition on the books is a football game against Prep on Aug. 28, so we do have some time to see if there is any more guidance coming from the state. It’s likely there won’t be anymore guidance, so we are likely to come to the board recommending we not participate in contact sports in the fall. We can’t see how we can do that safely. It would be football, soccer and volleyball, but we do feel some non-contact sports can proceed, including golf, tennis and cross country. We have a little more time for further guidance or any other decisions from the PIAA or District 10.”
