The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference — schools that primarily play at the Division II level of NCAA sports — has chosen to cancel all planned sports events this fall.
The York Daily Record has the details.
The conference has already done a “full review” of shifting fall sports to the spring and intends to do that if a “return to competition can be safely executed,” according to a press release.
The decision was voted on by PSAC university presidents Tuesday evening. It comes as college athletic conferences across the country have been canceling fall sports or postponing until the spring due to the coronavirus pandemic.
There remains a consistent message about college sports right now: The “big” conferences seem determined to hold out until the very end before making a decision that seems evident to everyone else: Sports this fall cannot be played.
As a sports fan, that disappoints me. As a human being, I’m fully on board.
