Remember when Purdue president Mitch Daniels told us his university had the financial resources to reopen the university this fall? (And that not reopening would be irresponsible?)
Well… you might want to check out what the Chronicle of Higher Education is reporting.
“All funds raised will benefit the areas of greatest need across campus, equipping Purdue’s leaders to move nimbly to address a range of anticipated and unanticipated needs resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic,” the Protect Purdue Initiative fund-raising page reads.
Daniels made the bold claim that his university would open, and he now wants donors to help him see that effort to the finish line. That’s not consistent with having the financial resources needed to get the job done.
