The man stood

The man stood at the front of the room

The people closest to him had reminded him, again to

Project confidence, radiate warmth, be kind

He said what he wanted to say

As he had planned

And how he wanted

The smart ones stayed silent

The weak ones roared approval

The little boy in the corner raised his hand

No one looked at him

No one remembered he was there

He left in tears
